Welcome to the Bob Blog. "Bob" is Sam's alter ego. Before Sam was born, Ben decided
his name should be Bob. (We should have known better than to ask, right?) And it stuck. As
Sam gets better and better, Ben calls him "Bob" a little less. We think when Sam wakes up, "Bob" will disappear completely
as far as Ben is concerned. As for the rest of us, well, Bob's a hard habit to break...
I'll try and keep everybody updated on Sam's progress, my thoughts, our daily ups and downs. It's tough sometimes,
and I don't do as well as I'd like.

October 11, 2007
Well, now I've done it
I really have! I updated the website, FINALLY! Yes, I added pictures to the page on Sam's Birthday (yeah, it was three months ago. Be quiet.) I even added a page on Sam's Car Wash. I'm so full of me I can hardly stand it.
But Sam's been feeling puny this week. Sunday morning at 4 am he felt hot all over. I didn't take his temperature,
because really, that's information I have no use for. Not like I'm going to take him to the hospital or anything, right?
I knew it wasn't 105 or anything, and other than that, it was just going to make me worry. So I took an egg out of the
fridge (I'm a kinder gentler me) and let it warm up a little before rubbing the egg whites all over his foot (only one because
the monitor was on the other one) and his temp was down in about 10 minutes. Here's the link again for you doubters:

Anyway, he just felt rotten. But we had to be at church at 7:30 because Ben was singing, and Tim was working, so
off we went. I figured I'd just bring apple juice and let Sam rest his tummy, but he was not happy. Then
I realized I was giving him white grape juice - TO WHICH HE IS ALLERGIC. Yes, add that to my mother of the
year application, would you? I got that back out of his stomach, mostly (I can do that easier than most people because
of the feeding tube) and he was calmer. But generally, he didn't have a happy few days. We went to see Dr
Towle on Monday, and he did his magic and Sam felt better, but basically it's just been a taking-it-easy week
for him. He has not wanted me to put him down, and has wanted me to have my thumb in his mouth so he could gnaw it down
to the bone. So those teeth are coming in, on top of everything.
Gotta go - off to therapy.
