Welcome to the Bob Blog.  "Bob" is Sam's alter ego.  Before Sam was born, Ben decided his name should be Bob.  (We should have known better than to ask, right?) And it stuck.   As Sam gets better and better, Ben calls him "Bob" a little less.  We think when Sam wakes up, "Bob" will disappear completely as far as Ben is concerned.  As for the rest of us, well, Bob's a hard habit to break...

I'll try and keep everybody updated on Sam's progress, my thoughts, our daily ups and downs.  It's tough sometimes, and I don't do as well as I'd like.

Good things
Okay, so I let time get away again.  The funk comes and goes, and it's bigger than I am, you know.  And you don't want to hear from me when I'm there.

But let's see.  First off, Sam's eye has cleared up.  His left eye has been red and awful looking - Dr Towle told us it is from a food allergy, and not dry eyes, as we thought.  So from process of elimination, it's eggs.  And his white clear eyes are back!  His eye was so red it was painful to look at, but it's clear again.  Yay.  Dairy is a problem too.  A manageable problem - wow.

And Sam's body is changing - when I was giving him a bath the other day, I noticed how his body is filling out; I never noticed before that it needed to, but ABR - and prayers, of course - are having an effect and building him up already.

He's been moving his legs more and more - almost like he's playing with them to see what they can do.  Not a lot, but it's noticeably more.  He's also been moving his arms a bit more, and independently of each other, which never happened before at all.  Another new development is that he's complaining about being on his back for ABR (which takes 3 hours a day) and wants to sit up and be cuddled!

And probably the biggest thing, and I'm scared to even say it for fear it will go away, but yesterday during vision therapy he was actually nodding his head to answer "yes" to Barb's questions!

So there you go.  I'm going to stop writing now in case he's reading over my shoulder and starts misbehaving again.

Oh, and one more thing I just remembered.  Yesterday, when Barb was here, he jumped up in his chair (almost like somebody had pinched his bottom) and then his cheek started twitching.  It was weird to watch - he thought it was weird too, I could tell - but his left cheek jumped and twitched for about 30 seconds.  I guess those muscles are waking up.
