Welcome to the Bob Blog.  "Bob" is Sam's alter ego.  Before Sam was born, Ben decided his name should be Bob.  (We should have known better than to ask, right?) And it stuck.   As Sam gets better and better, Ben calls him "Bob" a little less.  We think when Sam wakes up, "Bob" will disappear completely as far as Ben is concerned.  As for the rest of us, well, Bob's a hard habit to break...

I'll try and keep everybody updated on Sam's progress, my thoughts, our daily ups and downs.  It's tough sometimes, and I don't do as well as I'd like.

All better now
So Sam's better now, and I am so very tired, but I have to post because I know I got everybody in an uproar and then disappeared, as is normal for me.  I really don't mean to do that, but that is my pattern, isn't it?  It's always on my list to do, because I know you guys are praying him safe.

Anyway, last time I posted Sam was feeling better.  Then his oxygen level dropped again!  I was really freaking out because he seemed just fine, and other than hooking him up to the monitor, I'd never have known it.  I thought I must not know him well, or I must not be a good judge, or maybe he was really starting to fail or something because he seemed just fine, but the monitor said his oxygen level was quite low.

So, not knowing what was going on, I tried a different sensor on Sam, one that went on his finger instead of his toe, and lo and behold, his oxygen level read 98%!  So I figured maybe his feet had bad circulation (reading 89%) but at least I knew he wasn't really SICK, as I had thought he had been for about 5 days.  Then I switched the sensor back again, and the toe sensor read 98% - so I don't know for how long Sam had been well and over his illness, but it was just the darned machine for some time.  GRRRRRR.

I have so much to say and I'm so so so tired.

But I have to say this.  Last night, Sam was awake all night.  He sleeps next to me, and so I know these things.  I can't just let him lie there, so I stay awake all night too, rubbing his head and just trying to get him to go back to sleep.  It didn't work.  Finally, about 7 I got up, but I told Sam he had to just wait for me to take a quick shower before I got him out of bed.  He was looking very much like he was TRYING to get up, which he hasn't done before.  He was squirming and wiggling - hard to explain.

Anyway, when I got back from my quickie shower, he had rolled over!   He's rolled over before, but only in his sleep - this is the first time he's rolled over ON PURPOSE!!!

Deliberate movement is enormous - can I even explain?  My heart might explode.
